Bengal needs to join Nati

Swapan Dasgupta, finance minister in the state’s new Bharatiya Janata Party government, signaled a break from the past, saying West Bengal needed to “integrate back into the national economy” by linking more closely with the Centre. In an interview with Business Standard, Dasgupta said: “In the last 50 years, for two successive governments, it was wrong to imagine that West Bengal functioned as an island.”
