Swiggy’s towing app back online
Swiggy’s standalone value-focused food delivery app Towing has resumed services after being unavailable in several cities in the country for almost 24 hours.
Many users were seeing “temporarily unavailable” messages on the app for almost a day, affecting service across locations.
Swiggy did not make any official announcement regarding the outage. However, according to people familiar with the matter, the disruption was likely caused by a technical issue, which has now been resolved.
The app was not available for ordering food till 7:15 pm on Thursday.
Initially launched in Pune, Towing rapidly expanded to 50 cities within a year, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Nashik and Guwahati. Unlike the main Swiggy app, Towing is designed for price-sensitive consumers, especially Gen Z and college students, offering a simple ordering experience with curated restaurant selections.
The main value proposition of the app is the low price. It promises to keep restaurant menu prices at par with offline rates, no packaging charges or platform fees, and food through partner restaurants typically priced between Rs 99 to Rs 149.
According to Google Play Store, Toing has crossed ten million downloads and has a user rating of 4.3 stars.
Earlier, Towing was also separate from Swiggy’s snack app. While Snack relied on micro-kitchen models and private-label offerings for 15-minute food delivery, Towing partnered directly with restaurants to offer affordable meals. However, Swiggy shut down Snacc in February 2026, almost a year after its launch, as the business struggled to achieve sustainable unit economics.
The Bengaluru-based company reported consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 23,053 crore in FY26, up from Rs 15,227 crore a year ago. Its net loss narrowed to Rs 800 crore in Q4FY26, compared to Rs 1,081 crore in the year-ago period and Rs 1,065 crore in the previous quarter.
