India’s External Affairs Minister Subramanian Jaishankar described direct talks with Iran as the most effective way to restart shipping through the Strait of Hormuz in an interview published on Sunday.

Jaishankar told the Financial Times, “I am currently engaged in talking to him and my talks have yielded some results.” He said that the talks are continuing. “If it’s producing results for me, I’ll naturally continue to focus on it.”

Indian ship leaves UAE’s Fujairah after terminal attack

An Indian-flagged ship loaded with 80,800 metric tonnes of UAE Murban oil departed Fujairah for India on Sunday, the Indian government said, a day after sources said some loading operations at the UAE port had been suspended.

Oil loading operations at the UAE emirate of Fujairah, a major bunkering hub and crude oil export terminal, had resumed on Saturday following the drone strike and fire, sources said, although it was not clear whether operations had returned to normal.

India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said on Sunday that the ship, Jag Ladki, was loading oil at a single point mooring when the attack occurred at the Fujairah terminal.
