Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav has approved the construction of government buildings for 30 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) that are currently functioning from rented premises.

According to an official release from the department on Tuesday, August 12, the State has 560 UPHCs in total. Of these, 293 operate from their own buildings and 175 from municipal buildings. The remaining 92 centres lack permanent facilities — with construction already under way for 62 of them, expected to be completed by the year-end.

Following a review meeting on the accommodation of UPHCs with department officials, the Minister sanctioned the construction of permanent government buildings for the remaining 30 UPHCs across 18 districts, at a cost of ₹1 crore per building.

UPHCs in Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, Eluru, Vijayawada, and Guntur are among those that will soon have their own dedicated government buildings.
