Kda Wants Gba Renamed as ‘Bruhat Bengaluru Pradhikara’

Kannada Development Authority has written to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, suggesting that it is better to call Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) as “Bruhat Bengaluru Pradhikara” to protect the Kannada pride.

In a letter to Mr. Shivakumar, KDA Chairman Purushottham Bilimale has hailed his call to the general public to suggest a suitable Kannada name for Greater Bengaluru Authority as “democratic.”

Mr. Bilimale said there were several suggestions from the general public in response to such a call and the general consensus has been that it is better to address this authority as “Bruhat Bengaluru Pradhikara.” Even the KDA favoured this name as it would go a long way in respecting the Kannada pride and also endear the GBA to Kannadigas, he said.

He has appealed to the Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds Bengaluru Development portfolio, to direct the authorities to rename the GBA as Bruhat Bengaluru Pradhikara.
