Chelsea confirms signing of Netherlands international Jorrel Hato from Ajax New

Premier League side Chelsea confirmed the signing of Netherlands international Jorrel Hato from Ajax on Sunday.
The Club World Cup winner has tied down the 19-year-old on a contract till 2032 for a reported fee of 35.5 million pounds.
“I’m very excited, I’m so happy to be here,’ said Hato. ‘I thought a lot about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career. Chelsea is the best place for me to do that so I’m very happy,” Hato told the club website.
Hato began his football journey with local side Sparta Rotterdam before joining Ajax’s youth setup. The defender made his Ajax debut at the age of 16 in 2022 and his international debut aged 17, collecting six caps so far. He also captained the U21 Netherlands side in its run to the European Championship semifinal.
Hato will act as cover for left-back Marc Cucurella but can also slot into the left-centre-back role if required. The deal takes Chelsea’s spending in this window past the 250-million-pounds mark.
