The service road connecting Himayatsagar and Rajendranagar was closed to traffic from Friday night following heavy rain in the city and the catchment area of the Himayatsagar reservoir, with authorities announcing alternative routes to ease movement.
Vehicles travelling from Shamshabad to Gachibowli are now required to take a right turn at Exit 17 towards Budvel, proceeding via Kismatpur and the Telangana Police Academy. Motorists heading from Gachibowli to Shamshabad via the service road must instead use the Kismatpur route through Aramghar.
“Traffic personnel have been deployed at Kismatpur to manage the diversions, and the situation has been smooth,” said Rajendranagar Traffic Inspector Ch. Raju.
The closure was prompted by flooding on the Outer Ring Road service road due to heavy discharge from the Himayatsagar reservoir. Four gates of the reservoir have been opened to release excess water into the Musi river as inflows in the lake from the catchment area continues.
