State Bank of India (SBI) introduced a range of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled features on its retail and business banking platforms, including AI-powered virtual assistants for corporate and MSME customers, new digital account opening journey and mobile-based trade finance services, the bank said in a release on Wednesday.
These announcements were made as part of the bank’s 71st Bank Day as part of its efforts to expand digital banking services through its YONO and YONO Business platforms.
Among the key features, SBI has integrated its entire trade finance suite into the YONO Business app, allowing corporate and MSME customers to view, track and authorize inland, import and export trade finance transactions through mobile devices.
The bank also launched YONO G, an AI-powered virtual assistant that will provide round-the-clock assistance for product-related and service queries on the YONO Business web and mobile platforms.
For retail customers, SBI has launched a digital 3-in-1 account opening facility, which enables new users to open a savings account along with a demat and trading account with SBICap Securities through a single online process.
Eligible customers can convert their savings accounts into corporate salary accounts or upgrade existing salary accounts digitally without visiting a branch.
The bank has also added a sustainability feature to the YONO app, which allows customers to view the estimated carbon emissions saved through digital transactions and track a monthly “green score”.
Additionally, SBI launched a “Financial Fitness” feature that provides customers with personalized financial insights as well as a consolidated view of their deposits, loans, investments, insurance and spending patterns.
“As we celebrate 71 years of serving the nation, our focus is on building a technology-driven, customer-centric bank that continuously innovates banking experiences for individuals, businesses and enterprises,” SBI Chairman CS Setty said.
He said the new offering reflects the bank’s focus on using artificial intelligence and digital technology to simplify banking and improve customer experience.
SBI has over 53 crore customers, over 23,000 branches and over 10 crore registered users on its YONO platform. According to the bank, 66 percent of new savings accounts opened in FY26 were opened through YONO.
