Punjab Kings (PBKS) put up another brilliant batting performance by scoring 210 runs for 5 wickets against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 55th match of IPL 2026 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Monday.
Thanks to half-centuries from Priyansh Arya and captain Shreyas Iyer, PBKS comfortably crossed the 200-run mark, leaving DC with a challenging target of 211 to keep their playoff hopes alive.
After being asked to bat first, PBKS made full use of the powerplay as their top order attacked from the start and maintained the momentum in the middle overs.
Priyansh Arya made an explosive start
PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya gave a great start to the hosts with a quick-fire partnership of 78 runs.
The duo stitched a half-century partnership in just 16 balls, putting the DC bowlers under immediate pressure. Priyansh continued his great form and brought up his third half-century of the season in just 24 balls.
PBKS finished the powerplay strongly at 72 for no loss, with Priyansh dominating the scoring while Prabhasimran provided quick assists at the other end.
Mukesh Kumar finally gave the breakthrough to DC by dismissing Prabhsimran for 18 runs in 15 balls soon after the powerplay.
Shreyas Iyer kept PBKS under control
DC struggled for a while when Madhav Tiwary dismissed Priyansh Arya for 56 off 33 balls.
However, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer ensured that the innings never lost momentum. With Cooper Connolly, he stitched a fluent 83-run partnership for the third wicket, taking PBKS past the 150-run mark.
Connolly made a useful contribution of 38 runs from 27 balls before becoming Madhav Tiwary’s second wicket of the evening.
Shreyas continued to open the innings and combined calculated aggression with smart placement, bringing up his fifth half-century of IPL 2026 in just 32 balls.
Starc attacks late but PBKS finish strongly
Mitchell Starc gave a strong finish to DC by taking wickets in the death overs.
The left-arm fast bowler first dismissed Marcus Stoinis for just one run and then completed three wickets by dismissing Shashank Singh for zero on the very next ball.
Despite the late fall of wickets, PBKS managed a strong finish thanks to Shreyas Iyer and Suryansh Shedge. The pair added valuable runs in the final overs, with Shays making 21 not out off just eight balls.
Shreyas remained unbeaten on 59 off 36 balls as PBKS ended their innings at 210 for 5 in 20 overs.

The coin toss of the match went in favor of DC who opted to bowl first. Captain’s opinion after the toss: Shreyas Iyer (PBKS): Honestly, you can’t tell much about a pitch until you play on it. Go out there and perform. We don’t want to think too much about the points table, just focus on our ability and instincts – that’s why we haven’t performed well in the last few games, we haven’t followed our instincts and performed well under pressure. There will be ups and downs, it all depends on how quickly you get over it. Ben Dwarshius has come in place of Lockie Ferguson, who has a slight problem. Akshar Patel (DC): We will bowl. This is the thing that is getting right (winning the toss), in the matches, we have not won those important moments with the bat, ball or in the field, otherwise we would not have played so bad. We will play our brand of cricket and will not worry about the result. Win or lose, we will try to play on good brand wickets. It’s a fresh wicket, the new ball can work a bit and we want to let them bat first. Five changes for us.
